Minneapolis-based mobile developer DoApp announced their Mobile Local News platform for local newspapers and TV stations is now available for iPad. The iPad version of Mobile Local News has been designed to take advantage of the tablet's larger screen. More than 300 news apps use Mobile Local News to distribute their content on iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone and now iPad.
"We started from scratch on the front and back end design of our iPad solution," stated Wade Beavers, DoApp's CEO. "This is definitely not a refresh of our Mobile Local News design for smart phones, it's a completely new experience. We focused on usability and user experience to create a great product, elegantly taking advantage of the metaphors and screen size offered by the iPad."
DoApp's Mobile Local News platform easily integrates into a news outlet's existing content management infrastructure. A news provider's mobile strategy can be deployed on iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone and iPad in 30 days or less from a provider's initial contact with DoApp.
"Our new iPad product is a huge step forward in the consumption of news on a mobile device," says DoApp founder Joe Sriver. "The experience developed for our readers is nothing less than stunning. The initial reaction to our new iPad product has been tremendously positive. Our design and usability stands head and shoulders above anything else in the news industry."
New features debuting with the iPad release of Mobile Local News include: live animated weather radar, push notifications as well as integrated, personal Facebook and Twitter posts and feeds.
DoApp designer, Jim Kozlowski, designed the new iPad Mobile Local News experience. "During development, I pushed our engineering team on every detail. I built comprehensive specification and animation documents and made no excuses on the user experience. Even little things like our article scrolling implementation, it took an extra week to do right but we did it! We took advantage of everything the iPad has to offer."
Mobile Local News platform-based apps are available in over 50 major cities around the United States. All news outlets using the Mobile Local News platform will soon employ the new iPad app. iPad Mobile Local News apps are currently available for participating TV stations and newspapers in the following cities: Minneapolis, Dallas, Phoenix, St. Louis, Boise, Houston, Portland and more.
