[MobilePRwire.com] Morgan Hill, CA - Partnerpedia survey shows rapid adoption of tablets driving the need for broader enterprise application management solution.
Partnerpedia, a provider of private label enterprise app store and marketplace solutions released findings from a recent industry survey illuminating the needs of corporate IT as companies embrace tablets and other mobile devices.
Partnerpedia’s survey targeting enterprises with 1,000+ employees showed 58.8 percent of the respondents who are considering an enterprise app store are planning implementation by July 2012, while also citing the need to support a broader range of platforms and applications. The top four platforms indicated are iOS, Android, Windows Mobile and Blackberry. The overwhelming majority of respondents also viewed the adoption of enterprise app stores as an opportunity to leverage the licensing, distribution and management of applications across multiple end-points.
When evaluating enterprise app store solutions, the data indicated an 88.2 percent need to support tablets; 70.6 percent need for smartphones; 41.2 percent for laptops; and 11.8 percent for desktops, signifying that enterprise app stores are seen as an efficient way to not only manage new mobile devices that are rapidly entering the workforce, but also to manage legacy end-points.
With more and more mobile devices being adopted, enterprise app stores give IT administrators full management and control over which apps are approved as well as which employees have access to specific apps. The survey results showed that the main concerns are related to ensuring corporate security, policies and procedures.
“This is further validation that corporate IT is looking to internal app stores as a way to manage mobile applications within the enterprise,” said Partnerpedia CEO Mark Sochan. “Simply put, enterprise app stores are becoming an essential tool in the consumerization of IT.”
According to its annual sector forecast, consulting firm Deloitte indicated that 25 percent of the estimated 50 million tablet sales in 2011 will be for enterprise usage, while analyst group Gartner predicts that 80 percent of businesses will support tablets by 2013. What’s more, Forrester Research claims the deployment and support of devices and applications to globally dispersed employees is currently a top corporate IT priority.
