Therapy Box win 2013 Ericsson Application Award
London,  May 24th 2013, in  Android Apps,

[MobilePRwire.com] London, London -  Therapy Box has won the 2013 Ericsson Application Award recognising innovation in Android app development to promote a networked society. Predictable, an app which gives people with little/no speech a voice.

Therapy Box was this week announced as the winner of the 2013 Ericsson Application Award. The prestigious award was presented at Ericsson’s headquarters in Stockholm following a final in which the jury heard pitches and viewed demonstrations from the finalists.

The theme for the 2013 Award was "Apps for City Life" with the aim to promote innovations towards the Networked Society by connecting people, things and places to empower individuals and society. Therapy Box’s entry via their app brand TBoxApps was Predictable. The app is designed to allow people with little or no speech to have a voice; thus enabling them to be connected with their families, friends and society. It is an app created to empower people with significant communication and physical disabilities, and is the first app to bring the use of a headmouse to an Android tablet.

The competition drew almost entries from around the world and the shortlisted teams were then judged by 900 users in 9 large cities; with Therapy Box reaching the final two. Therapy Box and the other finalists were then brought to Stockholm to pitch their app to a jury of industry experts.

The jury commented on the way the app promoted freedom for people who used it; and described the “A ha” moment when they saw the use of the app via a headmouse. The app is unique in that it allows access via a mode where the whole screen acts as a switch or button, so that people using the app can tap anywhere on the screen if they have difficulty with the finer movements required to hit keys or individual buttons.

The use of Predictable goes beyond being a voice output aid; users can also compose their message and save it, email it, or update their social media status. This further facilitates keeping people connected.

Rebecca Bright, Director at Therapy Box said “we’re delighted to receive top place at the Ericsson Application Awards. It will help us drive forward our plans for further innovation in creating apps for people with disabilities”.

Predictable for Android tablets and smartphones is available from the website. Predictable is also available on the iPad in 6 languages (English, Swedish, Danish, Spanish, German and Norwegian) and available on iTunes.
